I am Sandra Motshwanedi. I work for the National Department of Environmental Affairs. I am a Deputy Director responsible for the coordination, development and publication of South Africa's International climate change reports including Biennial Update Reports (BURs), National Communications (NCs) as well as National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Reports. To date, I  have particularly done this work for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd BURs of South Africa as well as the Third National Communication. I have previously worked for the National Department of Energy in South Africa as an Assistant Director responsible for raising advocacy on the Clean development Mechanism (CDM)  as well as evaluating and recommending for approval by the the CDM projects proposals including Project Identification Notes (PINs) and  Project design Documents (PDDs).

In addition to the work I do on international reporting on climate change,  I  am also part of the South African delegation on climate change negotiations. My focus is on the Enhanced Transparency Framework and other related agenda items such as BURs, BRs, NCs as well as the work of the Consultative Group of experts (CGE).

I am  also the focal point for South Africa's CBIT project. I  am  responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the CBIT project of South Africa. Our aim as a country is to ensure that we build capacities at a national scale for key and targeted stakeholders in order to enable South Africa to comply with the reporting requirements of the Enhanced Transparency Framework of Action and Support.

To date, I have about 8 years of experience in public service within the field of climate change.
