Enhancing and bridging knowledge gaps in Sri Lanka's NDC implementation of AFOLU sector for enhanced transparency framework
Objective

By 2020, Sri Lanka is preparing reports to the UNFCCC under the Paris Agreement Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) covering all components identified in Sri Lanka’s Nationally-Determined Contribution (NDC), including strengthened agriculture and land use sector components, inventories of emissions sources and sinks and information necessary to track progress against priority actions in the NDC.

Description of Support Provided

The focus of the ICAT support in Sri Lanka is the transport sector. The project's work will focus on:

  • Review of existing MRV and M&E policies on national level within the transport sector
  • Establishing institutional arrangements, including legal frameworks, data-related methodologies and procedures between different stakeholders to facilitate a robust and sustainable national MRV system
