Uganda as a signatory to the PA is required to provide necessary information to track progress towards implementing and achieving NDCs and reducing GHG Emissions in the key emitting sectors of ; Agriculture, Energy and Transport, Waste and Forestry.

The government of Uganda received a grant from GEF to support institutions to respond to enhanced transparency requirements of the PA.

Under this project, there are three focus areas namely;

1)      Support to establish and strengthen the institutional arrangement for robust GHGI and MRV system

2)      Build capacity of key stakeholders to collect, process, and feed gender disaggregated data into the GHGI system

3)      Test and pilot the GHGI and MRV system

Progress
CBIT-Uganda was launched on October 3rd 2018, & inception meeting held on 4th October 2018. The PSC, sector & gender focal points were appointed with representatives from the 5 sectors. Five MoUs, Interministerial cooperation framework & Technical Guide on GHG data sharing have been drafted & are ready for presentation to the accounting officers of the respective ministries. A stakeholder workshop was held on 12th March 2019 & gender sensitisation workshop on 15th March 2019. Writeshop on development & publication of information on transparency requirements was held on 16-17 May 2019. Equipment, data, skills & capacity needs have been assessed. Waste, agriculture & energy tool are being revised to conform to IPCC requirements. Procurement of consultant to train on GHGI & MRV is underway.
